The Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing was created in 1995. It operates within the University of Waterloo's Faculty of Mathematics, which from its inception has been a strong supporter of school mathematics activities. The Faculty's interest in school mathematics led to the creation of a team of mathematics educators devoted to the creation of enrichment activities for elementary and secondary schools. Notable among these are the internationally recognized Canadian Mathematics Competitions (CMC), the Canadian Computing Competition (CCC), a comprehensive series of problems books, and a well earned reputation for staging popular problem solving workshops for students and teachers.
  • Designed, refined, and coded website mockups from scratch
  • Developed website wireframes and prototypes for independent websites including one for an International Mathematics Olympiad event
  • Independently able to set, prioritize, and meet deadlines in every stage of the website development under little supervision
  • Structured codes and used comments so that anyone with little HTML and CSS experience could easily modify the website's content
  • Enhanced user experience by designing layouts based on Gestalt psychology
